Education

University of California, Santa Barbara

Bachelor of Science in Physics | Expected Graduation: 2027 | GPA: 3.7/4.0

  • Relevant Coursework: Quantum Mechanics, Statistical Mechanics, Computational Physics, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations
  • Focus Areas: Computational modeling, data analysis, mathematical physics

Research Experience

Undergraduate Researcher, Mazur Lab (Prof. Greg Mazur)

UC Santa Barbara Physics · Condensed-matter / quantum devices (Ge/SiGe) · May 2026 - Present

  • Prepared and delivered two group-meeting talks for lab onboarding: quantum wells / 2DEG-2DHG and heterostructure band offsets on the Ge platform; and metal-semiconductor junctions / Schottky barriers explaining why Ge superconducting contacts require annealing (from Sze & Ng, Neamen, Pierret, and Tung 2014)
  • Reasoned the ohmic-contact chain on covalent Ge (Schottky barrier and Fermi-level pinning → heavy doping + anneal / germanide) and explained Rashba spin-orbit coupling under questioning; built working understanding of SdH oscillations, Landau levels, Zeeman effect, and Rashba splitting
  • Took operational responsibility for an Oxford Instruments Proteox dilution refrigerator (cooldown/warm-up, cryogenic and magnet safety; assisting with installation and filter components)
  • Characterized the lab RF environment (600-6000 MHz) with a Tektronix RSA306B and log-periodic antenna via a directional Max-Hold survey (10,000 traces × four directions), accounting for airport radar near 2775/2850 MHz and operating Qblox QSM electronics
  • Completing Palmström Lab (MBE collaborator) access and safety onboarding; building familiarity with Nb/Mo on Ge/SiGe sputtering, RTA germanides, and HF vs Ar-milling interface prep

Experience

New Venture Competition - Masterminding Startup

Team Lead | 2024 | 3rd Place Winner

  • Led team of 4 in developing data-driven startup concept
  • Conducted market research and competitive analysis
  • Presented business plan to panel of industry judges

Korean Army Service, ROK Army, 4.2" Mortar FDC Calculator

Military Service | 2021-2023

  • Served as Fire Direction Control (FDC) calculator for a 4.2" mortar unit; responsible for real-time ballistic computations under operational conditions
  • Authored operational manuals for the unit; adopted a "Us vs. Problem" leadership framework focused on win-win conflict resolution
  • Completed a 20-mile tactical night march in freezing rain. That experience developed a "one step at a time" mental discipline now applied to complex problem-solving in physics and finance

Construction Work, Field Labor, South Korea

Field Experience | 2020-2021

  • Performed physical fieldwork on construction sites in Korea prior to university; built foundational financial discipline and real-world operational awareness
  • Experience shaped an early drive toward investing and financial self-sufficiency, pursued in parallel with academic and entrepreneurial work
